Mr. Chris' 4th Grade Class Page
Greetings,
Welcome to the 23-24 school year! My name is Mr. Conforti and I am excited to be part of the Kia ISD 4th Grade team! More importantly, I am thrilled to be your learner's teacher! It's going to be a great year that's full of learning and new adventures. I know that our learners can rise to the challenge. I look forward to meeting everyone on the first day of school, but first, I want you to know a little about me.
I was born in Manchester, NJ. After graduating high school, I attended Rider University (NJ), where I earned my bachelors degree in Elementary Education, and then my masters degree in Counseling an Higher Education Administration.
In 2017, I decided to retire from higher education and move back to New Jersey. I chose to continue teaching and working in education, but decided that I wanted to work with elementary-aged students. In the intervening four years, I've been working towards earning my masters degree in Elementary Education at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in North Adams, and have held several teaching positions. Last summer, I received my Provisional teaching license, and began teaching full-time in Pittsfield, MA, serving as an English Learner (EL) teacher. I transitioned to Molly Stark in January of 2019 to assume the open fourth grade position. Since then, I've earned my Initial teaching license in Massachusetts and Level I teaching license in Vermont. It's been a wonderful journey and I can't wait to start this new school year with our new class.
I love to cook, travel, watch and collect movies, and participate in most types of art activities. I try to bring my passion, energy, and creativity into everything that I do, including teaching. I am enjoying creating our new learning environment this summer. We will continue to utilize IXL and Lexia Core5 as our Tier II instructional technology, and both Math (GoMath) and ELA (Reading Street) will include whole-class and small group instruction. New this year, I will be using the Epic! (reading) and Boom (task cards) Learning (math) systems for practice work. During distance learning, we will continue to us.
